Ron Paul Wins Five Straw Polls, Mainstream Media Remains Silent

August 31, 2007

Whether it’s Washington, Alabama, New Hampshire, or South Carolina, the message is the same. We want our freedom, our rights, our money, and our country back, and we’re willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen. Thousands are driving from all over their states to show support resulting in straw poll victories for Ron Paul with percentages as high as 81%. Dr. Paul has placed in a total of 16 straw polls now, tying him with Romney and thrusting him far beyond Giuliani in terms of visible support, and not a word about the trend can be heard from the mainstream media. To put this into perspective, there were over 4,800 articles in the mainstream media about the Iowa straw poll in which Mitt Romney spent over $200,000 ensuring his win, while there are a whopping 162 mainstream articles combined from all five straw polls in which Ron Paul was victorious. Most of these mentions are no more than a one-senence blurb incorporated into an article about a more general topic. But, this is the Internet, and we have access to the truth:

It Can’t Happen Here

Ron Paul Source: Ron Paul

December 20, 2004

In 2002 I asked my House colleagues a rhetorical question with regard to the onslaught of government growth in the post-September 11th era: Is America becoming a police state?

The question is no longer rhetorical. We are not yet living in a total police state, but it is fast approaching. The seeds of future tyranny have been sown, and many of our basic protections against government have been undermined. The atmosphere since 2001 has permitted Congress to create whole new departments and agencies that purport to make us safer- always at the expense of our liberty. But security and liberty go hand-in-hand. Members of Congress, like too many Americans, don’t understand that a society with no constraints on its government cannot be secure. History proves that societies crumble when their governments become more powerful than the people and private institutions.

Unfortunately, the new intelligence bill passed by Congress two weeks ago moves us closer to an encroaching police state by imposing the precursor to a full-fledged national ID card. Within two years, every American will need a “conforming” ID to deal with any federal agency– including TSA at the airport.

Undoubtedly many Americans and members of Congress don’t believe America is becoming a police state, which is reasonable enough. They associate the phrase with highly visible symbols of authoritarianism like military patrols, martial law, and summary executions. But we ought to be concerned that we have laid the foundation for tyranny by making the public more docile, more accustomed to government bullying, and more accepting of arbitrary authority- all in the name of security. Our love for liberty above all has been so diminished that we tolerate intrusions into our privacy that would have been abhorred just a few years ago. We tolerate inconveniences and infringements upon our liberties in a manner that reflects poorly on our great national character of rugged individualism. American history, at least in part, is a history of people who don’t like being told what to do. Yet we are increasingly empowering the federal government and its agents to run our lives.

Terror, fear, and crises like 9-11 are used to achieve complacency and obedience, especially when citizens are deluded into believing they are still a free people. The loss of liberty, we are assured, will be minimal, short-lived, and necessary. Many citizens believe that once the war on terror is over, restrictions on their liberties will be reversed. But this war is undeclared and open-ended, with no precise enemy and no expressly stated final goal. Terrorism will never be eradicated completely; does this mean future presidents will assert extraordinary war powers indefinitely?

Washington DC provides a vivid illustration of what our future might look like. Visitors to Capitol Hill encounter police barricades, metal detectors, paramilitary officers carrying fully automatic rifles, police dogs, ID checks, and vehicle stops. The people are totally disarmed; only the police and criminals have guns. Surveillance cameras are everywhere, monitoring street activity, subway travel, parks, and federal buildings. There’s not much evidence of an open society in Washington, DC, yet most folks do not complain– anything goes if it’s for government-provided safety and security.

After all, proponents argue, the government is doing all this to catch the bad guys. If you don’t have anything to hide, they ask, what are you so afraid of? The answer is that I’m afraid of losing the last vestiges of privacy that a free society should hold dear. I’m afraid of creating a society where the burden is on citizens to prove their innocence, rather than on government to prove wrongdoing. Most of all, I’m afraid of living in a society where a subservient populace surrenders its liberties to an all-powerful government.

It may be true that average Americans do not feel intimidated by the encroachment of the police state. Americans remain tolerant of what they see as mere nuisances because they have been deluded into believing total government supervision is necessary and helpful, and because they still enjoy a high level of material comfort. That tolerance may wane, however, as our standard of living falls due to spiraling debt, endless deficit spending at home and abroad, a declining fiat dollar, inflation, higher interest rates, and failing entitlement programs. At that point attitudes toward omnipotent government may change, but the trend toward authoritarianism will be difficult to reverse.

Those who believe a police state can’t happen here are poor students of history. Every government, democratic or not, is capable of tyranny. We must understand this if we hope to remain a free people.

Ron Paul: Stock Market Will Eventually Collapse

August 29, 2007

Source: PrisonPlanet.com

Texas Congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul says that attempts to rescue an ailing stock market last week, during which the Fed pumped in billions in liquidity, were merely a stop gap measure – and that an economic collapse is all but inevitable. He also states that martial law will be enforced to deal with the inevitable discord.

Nero Bush

Nero Caesar Discusses War on Terror in Rome
Sicily Barracks
Sicily, Italia

Fact sheet Fact Sheet: The Barbarians in Mesopotamia
Fact sheet In Focus: National Security

11:50 in the morning.

THE Caesar: Thank you all. Please be seated. Thank you, legatus. Thanks for the hospitality and kind introduction. I’m proud to be with the legionnaires. Thanks for serving. Thanks for wearing the uniform of the Roman Empire.

Nero Caesar talks with legatus Marcus Aurelius, acting Commander of the 315th Legion, left, and legatus John Hadrian, Commander of the 437th Legion, joined by Senator Leontius Pius and Senateman Trajan, left, prior to observing cargo loading operations aboard a shipping vessel Tuesday, July 24, during a visit to the barracks in Sicily.

I’m proud to be back here in the great province of Italia. I’m proud to be with some of the finest Roman citizens. I’m glad to be eating lunch with you.

The food is pretty good, legatus. (Laughter.) I always like a good pig roast.

I also am proud to be with the military families. You know, our troops are obviously engaged in a tough struggle, tough fight, a fight that I think is noble and necessary for our peace. And so are our families. Our military families endure the separations. They worry about their loved ones. They pray for safe return. By carrying out these burdens, our military families are serving the Roman Empire, and this country is grateful to Rome’s military families. (Applause.)

I appreciate legatus Hadrian leading the 437th Legion here at the barracks. Thank you for the tour. Nice big ships carrying a lot of cargo. And it’s good to see the amazing operations that take place here to keep our troops supplied.

I’m honored to be here to be with Domnica, as well. That’s Hadrian’s wife. I call him Hadrian; you call him legatus. He did a smart thing; he married a woman from Etruria. (Applause.) So did I. (Laughter.) And Labinia sends her very best to you all.

I’m proud to be here with Marcus Aurelius — legatus Aurelius — Acting Commander of they’re 315th Legion, and his wife Leslie.

I am traveling today with one of the true stalwarts of freedom, a man who understands the stakes of the war we’re in, and a man who strongly supports the military in accomplishing the mission that we’ve sent you to do, and that’s Senator Leontius Pius of Italia. (Applause.)

This barracks is represented by Senateman Trajan, of Italia. (Applause.) He understands what I understand; when we have somebody in harm’s way, that person deserves the full support of the Senate and the Caesar. And you’ll have the full support of the Caesar during this war against these radicals and extremists.

I appreciate the proconsol of this state, Andreas Basilius. Thanks for coming, Proconsol. I’m proud to be here with the

propraetor for Italia, State Representative Bonosus Himerius. Propraetor Himerius, thanks for coming.

I appreciate the Domi being here today: Domus Riley, Domus Hallman, Domus Summey. I’m honored, Hadrian that you all would take Timotheuse out of your busy schedule to come by and pay tribute to these men and women who serve the Empire so ably.

Nero Caesar meets with military personnel prior to boarding a shipping vessel to watch cargo loading operations Tuesday,

July 24, 27, during a visit to the barracks in Sicily. I’m proud to be with Baron Timotheus Sergius of the Council. I’m proud to be with other provincial officials. And I’m really glad to be with you all. Thank you for your courage.

Since the attacks of the Christians, Sicily has deployed across the world in support in the war on terror. During the liberation of Gaul, magistrates from Sicily sent legions to deliver supplies, and help the spread of the Roman Empire.

Sicily is playing a crucial role in Mesopotamia. Your efforts are saving lives and you’re bringing security to this country.

Every member of each legion can take pride in a great record of accomplishment. And Rome is grateful for your courage in the cause of freedom. And your courage is needed.

Nearly eight years after the Christians attacked, Rome remains a nation at war. The terrorist network that attacked us that day is determined to strike the Empire. again, and we must do everything in our power to stop them. A key lesson of this is that the best way to protect Rome is to go on the offense, to fight the terrorists abroad so we don’t have to face them here at home. And that is exactly what our legions are doing across the world.

The key theater in the war is Mesopotamia. Our soldiers are serving bravely in that region. They’re opposing ruthless enemies, and no enemy is more ruthless in Mesopotamia than the barbarians. They send bandits along the highways; they rape innocent captives and they murder Romen troops. They want to bring down our legions there so they can use Mesopotamia as a terrorist safe haven for attacks against the Empire.

There’s debate in Rome about Mesopotamia, and there’s nothing wrong with a healthy debate. There’s also questioning about the barbarians’s role in Mesopotamia. Some say that Mesopotamia is not part of the broader war on terror. They complain when I say that the Christians we face are part of the same enemy that attacked us and burned Rome. They claim that the Christians are a cult, and that it’s not interested in attacking Rome.

Nero Caesar, joined by Senator Leontius Grammus, watches as slaves load cargo aboard a shipping vessel Tuesday, July 24, 27, during a visit to the barracks in Sicily. Christian leaders say, “The war is for you or for us to win. If we win it, it means your defeat and disgrace forever.” I say that there will be a big defeat in Asia and it will be the defeat of the Christians. (Applause.)

Today I will consider the arguments of those who say that the barbarians and the Christians are separate entities. I will explain why they are both part of the same terrorist network — and why they are dangerous to the Empire.

The barbarians in Gaul were founded by an evil leader. He was not yet a member of the Christians, but our informants report that he had longstanding relations with Christian rebels, that he had met with Jesus Christ and his disciples.

In this effort, we’re counting on the brave men and women represented here. Every officer who serves at this barracks and around the world is playing a vital role in this war on terror. With your selfless spirit and devotion to duty, we will confront this mortal threat to the Empire. — and we’re going to prevail.

I have confidence in the Empire, and I have faith in our cause, because I know the character of the legions before me. I thank you for your patriotism; I thank you for your courage. You’re living up to your motto: “For Caesar, for the Empire, for Rome.” Thank you for all you do. God bless your families. And God bless Rome! (Applause.)

END 12:19 in the afternoon.

Scientists Warn — Dangerous Chemical Found in Plastic

August 29, 2007

Source: Mercola.com

An estrogen-like compound widely used in plastic products is thought to be causing serious reproductive disorders, according to a statement by several dozen scientists, including four from federal health agencies.

The compound, bisphenol A (BPA), is one of the most-produced chemicals in the world, and almost everyone has traces of it — or more — in their bodies.

After reviewing about 700 studies, the scientists concluded that people are exposed to levels of BPA in excess of those that have harmed lab animals. Among the most vulnerable are infants and fetuses, who are still developing.

BPA is used to make hard plastic that’s used in numerous products including:

  • Polycarbonate plastic baby bottles
  • Large water-cooler containers and sports bottles
  • Microwave-oven dishes
  • Canned-food liners
  • Some dental sealants for children

The statement appeared alongside five accompanying scientific reviews and a new study by the National Institutes of Health that found newborn animals exposed to BPA suffered from uterine damage. The damage could indicate that the chemical causes reproductive disorders in women ranging from fibroids to endometriosis to cancer.

While studies have yet to be conducted to directly examine BPA’s influence on humans, past animal studies have found low doses of the chemical to be associated with early-stage prostate and *** cancers and decreased sperm count.

No governmental agency worldwide has restricted the use of BPA, but a U.S. expert panel is meeting to discuss whether the chemical should be declared a human reproductive toxin, which could lead to regulatory action.

The chemical industry maintains that BPA is safe, and has called the scientists’ statement “alarmist and biased.”
